A pleasure to visit @171_gallery for Essays on Imperfection by Leonardo Vargas, and to have the opportunity to meet the artist.

The exhibition brings together two bodies of work exploring the fragile and ever-changing nature of the photographic image. Moving between painting and photography, Vargas transforms photographs through layers of paint, erasure, blur and material intervention, creating images that feel suspended between memory, presence and absence.

What I found particularly compelling is how imperfection becomes an essential part of the work—not as a flaw, but as a way of questioning how we remember, recognise, and give meaning to images.

A beautiful and thoughtful exhibition, and a pleasure to experience it in person and to meet Leonardo Vargas.

The exhibition is open till September 11!

And I promise, I will do calendar for September, as I got many questions regarding that.
